Podcast with 'That Tree' photographer Mark Hirsch

Talking Pictures photography podcast with 'That Tree' photographer Mark Hirsch.

For those who don't know, in my past life I was a photojournalist with The Dispatch/ Rock Island Argus newspapers and Radish Magazine in the Quad Cities.

I left that job in the spring of this year to focus full-time on my wedding, event and lifestyle photography, but still do a little work for the papers and participate in the Talking Pictures podcast.  The podcast is by the photo staff of the papers and focuses on what it's like to be a photojournalist, nerdy camera gear talk, and on occasion we have guests come in and talk.

After being in a serious accident, Mark Hirsch spent a year taking a picture every day of the same burr oak tree in a small valley with his iPhone. It became a daily meditation that helped him find a real peace. After getting talked into starting a Facebook page, he found his project resonated with thousands. He's created a book and currently is an artist in residence.

This podcast doesn't have much in the way of wedding information, but if you like photography, interested in photojournalism or trees, its worth a listen. The book is a wonderful mediation that also includes essays about the process.

The podcast has been a lot of fun to do, if you like photography there's more episodes that are worth checking out or even subscribing at iTunes or SoundCloud.
