Old friends, new friends

     One of the really great things about this job is getting to meet some pretty awesome people. People ask me about 'Bridezillas' but we really haven't ever had one. I have yet to have a client I wouldn't work with again.

    So one of our favorite weddings was Alex and Hillary's that we shot back in Oct. of 2015. Just a great couple, great families. Got to shoot a lot of really cool, new-to-us locations in Dubuque. Alex comes from a family of boys, an older brother and twin younger brothers. You could tell these guys were close.

     We shot one of my all time favorites at this wedding, the dip in Dubuque's Milltown District. A lot of things were working that day, we had great light, Hillary looked amazing, Alex looked like a stud,  the drape of her arm, the pop of color from the bouquet, the cars provide leading lines, and I really can't say enough about Alex and Hillary's dip itself. POW! I'm pretty sure they had been practicing.

   Fast forward a couple years and we were contacted by Kelli, who is engaged to Alex's brother, Michael. We are shooting their wedding this November and couldn't be more excited. I shot their engagement session this weekend, and we decided the gauntlet had been thrown down and we had to pick it up and try to outdo Alex and Hillary. Michael and Kelli and I were pretty much able to recreate the photo. I must of have used a slightly wider lens, and that mid-afternoon October light is pretty tough to beat, but I think we nailed it.

   Michael and Kelli are such a cool couple, and we can't wait to shoot their big day. We feel so honored when a family puts their trust in us to capture these memories. It's very humbling.

  And if that wasn't enough, Michael has a twin brother, Mitch, and Kelli has a twin sister, Michaella and Michaella and Mitch are getting married in January, and we are so excited to be shooting their big day too!

    The only question is if they've been practicing their dips.
